Note that the recent offering by Canterbury Auction Galleries of watercolour described as "Shoulder length portrait of the artist's wife Amy, 15" x 11" in ebonised frame and glazed" did not reach the reserve. I feel that the estimate of £400-£600 was a bit too high and probably dampened interest. The painting was a very similar study to my Mediterranean Maiden which can be viewed on this link although from a slightly different angle and both are signed G. Barbaro. Be interesting to see whether this one is re-offered.
