12mo, medium/fine gilt edged 635 numbered pages. Bound with calf leather and gilt print.
Condition/Notes : The blue calf leather front board is ribbed and soft, rubbed to edges and with some marking. Rounded corners have wear. Burns title in gilt. Back board similar but brighter colour with rubbing to spine edge. Spine is sunned with rubbing and wear. Top and tail rubbed and small vertical tear to tail edge. Gilt print clear. Paste-down light blue marbled with similar facing e/p. Inscription in faded black ink handscript "Christmas 1917. To Mary" with a signature below in blue ink. There is a surface split between the e/p and the paste-down for 100mm down from the top edge revealing about 1mm of cloth bind but the binding is secure and not affected. Frontisplate follows with oval portrait in sepia entitled "Robert Burns From the engraving by Rogers, after the painting by Nasmyth". Title page follows with full details and OU Press emblem. The pages are clean and in good condition. Notes, Glossary, Index of First Lines and Chronological List follow main text. Binding tight and fully intact.
