Newlyn Harbour, watercolour on paper, titled and signed by T.H. Victor, c1930.
Framed and glazed.
Dimensions : Frame : 274mm x 221mm x 13mm. Image : 155mm x 105mm.
Condition/Notes : The watercolour on paper painting is in good condition with good colour. There is no sign of foxing or moisture ingress. The scene depicts Newlyn on the approaches to the harbour with three figures on the road. Several fishing boats are moored near the harbour wall. The painting is signed T.H. Victor in the lower rh corner and the title "Newlyn" is printed in the lower lh corner. The scene is typical of this artist's work and Newlyn was one of his favourite locations. He also painted under the alias W. Sands and his prolific period was 1920-30. The painting is signed in the artist's usual manner. The painting is displayed beneath an old off-white mount, which is in good condition but with toning to the window edges. The ebonized wooden frame is in good condition but with wear to the edges. Glazing is clear. The back of the frame is covered with a board held in position by old pins and sealed with brown waxed backing paper which is torn in several places. The frame appears to be original. Screw-eyes and cord fitted. There is no script visible or labels attached.
Overall a very pleasant watercolour scene of old Newlyn.
