Condition/Notes : Good. DJ quite good : The colours are good. There is wear to the top edge with a tear on the lh top corner 20mm down spine edge and a small tear 5mm down from top edge. Dusting to the edge. Light wear to bottom edgewith small tear 3mm up from lower rh corner. DJ back face wear to edges with a few small tears and general marking to face. DJ spine dusted with wear top and tail. DJ front fold with toning to edges and price mark 16s net lower rh corner. Back fold 10mm tear down from top rh corner with extract from Adventure's End. Front dark blue linen board is good with light bump lower corner. Back board good. Spine with bumps to top and tail. Front paste-down blank off-white. Facing e/p blank with author's signature (E.P. Hillary) in blue ink (E.P. and first stroke of H toned to sepia) upper quarter and vertical dust line top to bottom corresponding to DJ front fold edge. pp follows with title. Frontispiece follows with colour photo of author,taken by Tenzing, looking towards summit, in very good condition. Title page follows with full details; printing details verso. Author's Preface follows dated Auckland March 1955. Contents follow. List of Illustrations follow : Plates 1 to 31. Pages all clean and good with light toning to edges. Binding tight and fully intact. Light dusting to edges. Overall, a good copy of this First Edition volume with the advantage of the author's signature.
