Dimensions : Frame : 638mm x 537mm x 21mm. Image : 542mm x 441mm.
Condition/Notes : The oil on board painting is in very good condition with no damage or paint loss. The painting depicts the famous Coronation Class streamlined steam locomotive Queen Elizabeth 6221 in the Crimson Lake livery with gilt stripes hauling a passenger train departing a city. The locomotive was built in Crewe in 1937 and was originally painted in the Caledonian Blue livery which was changed to Crimson Lake at a later date. The painting is signed in the lower rh corner and dated 87 (1987). The signature is somewhat obscure towards the end but appears to be Goldbey rather than Goldbly and so both have been used in this listing. Any confirmation will be added.
The wooden, linen lined frame is in good sound condition but with marking in places and general usage wear. Verso is covered with a board secured by brass panel pins. Rings and cord attached.
