Condition/Notes : Quite good. No DJ. The black linen front board has light wear and wear to corners and light marking to face. Gilt embossed emblem in centre. Back board similar with scatching marks to face. Spine with wear top and tail and sunning. Gilt lettering. Front paste-down and e/p blank off-white with presentation label attached to paste-down. pp with title and quote verso. Frontispiece follows "The Elixir of Life" by John A. Lomax with creasing to rh border edge and toning to border edges. Title page follows with details; verso printing details. Dedication follows. Contents follows : Chapters I to XVI, Epilogue, Notes, Sources and Index. List of Illustrations follows. Pages good but with toning to edges and foxing in places. Plates good except "Svante Arrhenius" facing p188 which is detached with wear to edges but good. Dusting and foxing to edges. Binding quite tight and fully intact (except above plate).
