Condition/Notes : Quite good. The dark maroon calf front board has wear to edges and wear to face with scratches. Back board similar. Spine sunned with faded gilt print; wear top and tail with losses to both revealing binding and rubbing to edges. Front paste-down blank with foxing as is e/p. Title page follows with details and company emblem; verso printing details. Preface follows by W.C. Contents for first section follows : Introduction, Ancient History, Medieval History, British History, Modern Continental History, Concluding Historical Questions, Index. Contents for second section: Many topics ranging from Astronomy to The Fine Arts, Index. Pages good with light wear but toning to edges and foxing in places. Black and white illustrations throughout. Binding quite tight with light strains in places. Additional Chambers' advertising. Blank back pp and e/p with foxing. Dusting to edges. An interesting and informative historical volume, quite rare.
