Condition/Notes : Quite good. The front dark green tooled board with 30mm dark green calf border lh edge and calf 35mm reinforced corners has light wear to edges with wear and rubbing to calf corners and lh edge. Back board is similar. Spine has wear and rubbing to top and tail with rubbing to the 5 ribs. Gilt decoration and lettering over red title box. Vol II in gilt. Paste-down and front e/p in dark blue/green marble with wear to edges and toning. Blank pp follows with sub-title pp. Frontispiece follows with black and white illustration of The Snow Queen (Tableaux Vivants). Title page with details. Tableaux Vivants follows. This volume is particualrly interesting as it contains the first of the Sherlock Holmes stories by A. Conan Doyle entitled Adventure I. - A Scandal in Bohemia which commences p61 through to p75 with illustrations. The other Holmes stories in this volume are The Red Headed League, A Case of Identity, The Boscombe Valley Mystery, The Five Orange Pips and The Man with the Twisted Lip. The pages are generally good throughout with toning to edges. Very well illustrated. Binding quite tight and fully intact. Marbling to the edges. Please view the images below :
