Condition/Notes : Quite good. No DJ. Front light brown linen board has light wear to edges, bumps and wear to corners, black ink swallows and flower decoration with gilt title box Burns. Marking and wear to face. Back board similar with plain light brown face with blind triple lining surround. Spine wear top and tail, similar faded flower black ink design with title Burns' Poems upper quarter and Walter Scott lower. Dark brown front paste-down and e/p; verso blank. Title page facing with details; verso blank. Contents follows p3-p7. Prefatory Notice p9-p35 by Joseph Skipsey dated April 1885. Burns's Poetical Works Poems commences with The Cottar's Saturday Night p37 and through to p356 with Elegy on the Death of Robert Ruisseaux. Blank e/p. Pages good with light usage. Each page with red ink box lining surrounding text. Binding quite tight but with strain front e/p-Title page, p32-33, p160-161, p320-321 and p336-337. Edges with red ink and dusting. Slight cocking to volume. Note this edition is the same as The Canterbury Poets published by James Pott & Co., New York, 1885.
