Condition/Notes : Good. The etching is in good condition. The study depicts Brighton Beach with boats ashore and the Palace Pier in the distance. An historic etching. Signed M. Oliver Rae in pencil in the lh corner of the lower border and titled Brighton (The Beach) in pencil in the rh corner of the lower border. The signature M. Oliver Rae was the pseudonym used by the artist Mabel Oliver (Mabel Parker) on her etchings as opposed to Mabel Parker or monogram M.P. on her paintings. She is well-known for her architectural studies of Cambridge Colleges and English landscapes. The etching is displayed within an ivory coloured mount, which is in good condition. The period ebonized frame is in good condition; hardboard backing sealed with tape. Two labels attached. Hanging cord attached. An interesting historical study by this well-known artist benefitting from the signature and handwritten title.
